It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year
There’ll be much mistletoeing
And hearts will be glowing
When love ones are near
It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

December, oh my darling, how I missed you! Last few days have been absolutely amazing; not only it’s the end of the year (which is pretty awesome, because next one is mine - the Horse Year, and I am so ready for it!), but the weather has been pretty damn good - so much snow, I can’t be more happier, plus the temperature is dropping, which means that the snow is here to stay for a little while longer - score!

So, about the look - let’s start with the accessories. The navy vintage hat is something I found completely accidentally while searching for a dress for the Christmas ball. Needless to say I didn’t find the dress, but I found this beauty at a local boutique called De’Žavu (by the way, I’ll be doing a Blog post soon about this place, because it is full of awesomeness!). It’s so feminine and beautiful, and unique; kind of reminds me of royalties and horse-racing events. The bag is another thing I have been hunting down for a while. I do believe in investing in a good handbag, because it will last forever, but I am sad to say that I simply do not have thousands of dollars for a CÉLINE Phantom bag, but this one will definitely do, for now at least. I am pleasantly surprised by the quality of it and once again it proves my theory that if you’ll spend extra time searching for something, you will definitely find it and this bag was worth every penny. Next - jeans, same old same old Bershka jeans, which will be thrown out by the end of the year, because I have worn them out sooo embarrassingly much; jacket - my old love from my favorite store Bik Bok (still can’t believe they are shutting it down here in Latvia! Where am I supposed to spend my money on good quality clothing now???); Lola Ramona winter boots is something I thought would go well with the outfit and of course beloved fur scarf from my mother’s closet! Now do not take this the wrong way, but I love fur. This is a super deep topic that I do not wish to discuss in this post, but I want to make this clear - I am against animal abuse, but there are things that are as old as this world - our ancestors wore fur, because it was the only available clothing at that time. This reminds me of vegetarianism, which is another topic that I will not indulge in right now, but still, the point is that I love fur scarves and yes, I would like to have a fur jacket too.

So that is all, I believe.

I would love to express a huge gratitude to my darling Andris Barbans for this photo-shoot and to Chictopia for featuring me on their official instagram page, saying that my look is “the Look of the Day”. It is an incredible honour to be featured, let alone appreciated so much. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

So, what do you think about the look?

"Too rainy, too cold and too depressing!"

That is my description of this time of the year - Autumn. It’s no surprise that this is one of my least favorite out of the four (the second one being Spring, uh), but, there is a “but” this time - it is not as bad as I thought it would be. So far the end of the Summer and the beginning of Autumn have been very good - so many good things are happening and I just can’t wrap my mind around it all, asking myself the same question :"What is going on?"

One of the good things that has happened, was an opportunity to study a new language and I chose, surprise, surprise, French! So far so good, a bit frustrating, but I’m trying to be easy on myself - I have had three lessons so far and it is okay to not understand and know everything at this point, but I can’t help myself - I need to know it all!

So, yes, Autumn is good, I am happy, so now on with the look: this is something I am wearing almost every day now since it got cold and super rainy! This gorgeous oxblood colored parka I ordered online at asos.com in the middle of Summer, because I knew that Autumn would come unannounced and I wouldn’t be prepared (as usually), so I though ahead and bought it right then. I adore the color, no, I absolutely am in love with it -it’s absolutely perfect for Autumn. And parka is the kind of jacket that will never go out of style - it is absolutely versatile, stylish and of course, the most important thing - it’s warm! Next are same old same old black skinny Bershka jeans, which I am not going to write about anymore, so now we are on the third object of this look - my precious Hunter Wellington boots! Now let me say one thing - if there is something I absolutely love and I know that I will get a good wear out of it, then I have no remorse in spending a good amount on the said thing. And that was the case with these boots - I knew they were good (one will surely say - those are rain-boots, aren’t they all the same?) and yes, while they all are the same (made of rubber and serve the same purpose) but not quite. Hunter brand is a well known company that has been in the business for quite some time now and their boots is something every fashion blogger has in their possession and now, when I am a proud owner myself, I understand why - super-duper-comfiness and classical style!

So that is it for the look and now is the question time - what is something you can’t go on at this time of the year? May it be the same Hunter Wellies, your beloved iPad (God, I am absolutely obsessed with mine lately and it’s such a bad thing!) or maybe just a cup of hot chocolate?

I have so many pictures stored in my computer, it’s not even funny. Random shots, which would make for a good post if there would be more of them. So I thought to myself :”Oh, screw it - it doesn’t matter how many pictures there are, as long as they’re good!”

So excuse my lack of detailed shots and on we go with the look!

About the look: this was actually one of my most worn / most favorite look of the Spring / Summer 2013. I bought the mint&black polka-dot blouse at Cubus in the beginning of Spring and it started my unhealthy obsession with polka-dots! The blouse by itself was a bit boring, like there was something missing, so I added a ribbon and tied a bow. Those black skinny Bershka jeans are still not the most comfortable pair of pants to ride bike with, but I can’t be bothered to buy new ones. Maybe in the nearest future I will invest in good pair of pants! Next I added my last Summer’s love - black leather Oxfords, which I got in the package from my grandma’ all the way from Russia; straightened my hair (which I normally do maybe once or twice a month, because believe it or not, I love my hair just as curly as they are! Weird, huh?) and added these black Prada-like butterfly sunglasses, which I got from EBAY for a couple of dollars.

And yes, another post with my "Grandma’ bike". What can I say, I love it very much, hence the title of the post!

So, tell me, can you call yourself a bicycle-fanatic or are you just an enthusiast, or maybe you just don’t care?

Summer is definitely coming to an end - mornings are chilly, evenings darken faster and there’s this Autumn vibe in the air. My favorite time of the year is coming to an end, but, oh well, it means Winter (second favorite time of the year, fyi) is fast approaching - goodie!

About the look: bought this oversized jumper at H&M (I can rarely find something I actually like in that shop) and as Summer is ending fast, so is my huge obsession with polka-dots; now it’s stripes (and navy blue color) all the way! Paired it with a basic BIK BOK top and black skinny Bershka jeans (which are not the most comfortable pair of pants to ride bike with); put on my beloved ECCO ballerinas, added a ivory drop Diva earrings, black H&M cat-eye sunglasses (they remind me so much of the ones Audrey Hepburn wore in “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”) and added a tanned faux leather Accessorize rucksack I bought on sale in the middle of July for the POSITIVUS festival - one of the best purchases I made. Although, it is a bit hipsterish (hate the term and the cultural phenomena), I still love it very much and it fits all of my belongings, especially when I ride my beloved bike.

Oh, and another thing that made this Summer special, was the purchase of my dear bicycle - my beloved "Grandma’ bike", as they like to call it in the Netherlands.

So for me a must-have is a pair of wheels (a proper lady bike in my case), striped oversized jumper paired with skinny jeans, and a bag, that will carry all of the important stuff no matter where you go and which still looks fabulous.

What are your must-haves for this time of the year?
